Home Again!
February 26, 2008Hey Friends! Well, if you’ve been wondering why I haven’t been around lately, I’ll tell you. After my mom’s wedding, I flew to Alabama to visit with some good friends while my mom was on her honeymoon! I had a fabulous time hanging out with my “extended family”! I just got home last night, and I have tons of things to tell you about! But for right now, I need to unpack and settle in here. I hope your day is full of sunshine! I’ll talk to you again soon!
I Can Hear The Bells!
February 14, 2008In just 2 days, my amazing, sweet, incredible mother will be getting married!! I can hardly believe the big day is actually arriving!!
A new beginning.
A new stepdad.
A new family, complete with a cat and a new set of wonderful grandparents.
The future is looking pretty bright!!
I’m Different?
February 11, 2008Do you want to know something funny? I honestly don’t think of myself as being any different than everyone else. In my every day ordinary life, I go about my business like a normal person. I brush my teeth, I put on my make-up, decide what shoes to wear, listen to music while I’m getting ready, and I try not to be late. It hardly ever occurs to me that I do things differently than most people. Yeah, so I have to get a step stool so I can reach the sink, and I put on my make-up without having to use a mirror. I need help figuring out what clothes and jewelry to wear, so I ask my mom what matches. But, that’s just my life. I’m totally and completely used to it!
Yesterday afternoon, my mom and I went to the mall. We had some girl time and went to see 27 Dresses. (It was a pretty good movie and I really enjoyed it.) I haven’t been to the mall in a while, and I had kind of forgotten what it was like to be in a crowd of people. There were kids running around, people wandering in and out of stores, etc. The funny thing was, almost every kid that we walked by yesterday was either staring at me with their mouth hanging open or making a comment about me. It took me a minute to realize why they were reacting that way.
“Oh Yeah!” I thought, “I look different than the rest of the general population!”
It’s not that I really mind the staring and comments, it’s just that to me, being 3 feet tall is not that big of a deal. It’s my life. I’ve had 23 years to get used to it. There was one little boy who hollered at the top of his lungs, “You’re small!” That made me laugh so hard! I wish I could have talked to him for a while, because I would love to tell him that being small is awesome! I love it!
People often ask me if it’s hard to be so short. To be honest, there are some days when it’s not easy. But, the truth is that the majority of the time, I forget that it’s considered “weird”. Being a little person is working great for me, and I wouldn’t trade lives with anyone else if I had the choice!
Hip Hip Hurray!!
February 8, 2008Ladies and gentlemen! Boys and girls! I have an announcement to make! As of about ten minutes ago, I am proud to report that I successfully walked all the way around the block…AGAIN!! Yay me!!
“Tell her what she’s won, Bob!”
“Well, Julie, you are now the proud new owner of a Chia Pet! Simply add water and watch it grow!”
(Audience applause!)
Time for Trivia
February 6, 2008Here are some things about me that you might find interesting:
1. I love drinking water. I carry a bottle of water around the house with me all the time. When I go to a restaurant, I almost always order water with my meal. I feel so much healthier when I skip the soft drinks and just go with the pure, calorie free, all natural H2O!
2. Even though I am 23 years old, I love watching Hannah Montana!
3. I almost always have the following items in my purse: gum, Tic Tacs (my favorite flavors are Spearmint, cinnamon, and Orange), lip gloss, business cards, and a key chain shaped like a flip flop that has my name on it.
4. I’ve seen the movie “While You Were Sleeping” more times than I can count. I’ve probably watched it at least once a year. “Have you ever been so lonely that you spent the night confusing a man in a coma?”
5. I floss my teeth just about every night. Dental hygiene is very important to me.
6. Every morning, I turn on some fun, uplifting music and I spend thirty minutes dancing around my room. I love to get my heart going, and it also puts me in a great mood! You should try it! It’s a really fun way to start the day!
7. If I had to pick one song that represents my life story, I would choose “He’s Been Faithful” by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
8. I love the smell of coffee, but I don’t enjoy the taste. I could go to Starbucks, sit on one of the comfy couches and breathe in the wonderful aroma, and then leave. That would be a lot cheaper than actually buying a drink. Although when I do go to Starbucks, I almost always get a kids’ hot chocolate. Soooo tasty!
9. My favorite place to go on vacation is Disney World. But, it’s also a frustrating place for me because I’m not tall enough to go on most of the cool rides! I’ve been kicked off the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at least twice that I remember. I’m only 4 inches too short! So sad!
10. I absolutely LOVE to read! I’m usually reading at least 3 books at a time. (I listen to lots of audio books, and also read books in Braille.)
11. I have a Black Raspberry Vanilla Wallflower in my room. It smells so yummy!
Now it’s your turn. Tell me something interesting about yourself. Have you ever been scuba diving? Do you have a pet kangaroo?
