My Book Club

One thing you need to know about me is that I am passionately in love with books. I am so enamored with the English language! I really enjoy reading fictional stories, inspirational books, things that make me think more deeply about life, and books that draw me closer to my Father God. Because I‘m a writer, I feel like I have a deeper love for the written word than the average person. My heart jumps for joy as I read a well-written, fascinating book. My spirit comes alive as I discover the many different ways that words and phrases are put together to form sentences. I may not be able to physically see print, but through the miracle of Braille and the wide variety of audio books available, I can still enjoy my most treasured hobby. Not every book that I want to read is in Braille or audio format, so I sometimes rely on my family to read to me. Every once in a while, I’m going to update you on the latest books I’ve been reading. I’ve always wanted to start a book club, but the logistics are a little tough. I know that most people don’t have enough time to devote to reading and discussing books. So, I’ve decided to just list the books I’m reading at the moment, and if you’ve read any of them, (or if you want to read any of them) and you would like to talk about them with me, feel free to leave a comment. I’ll either answer you here on my blog, or I’ll send you an email. Here are the books I’ve been reading lately:

The Search For Significance
By Robert S. McGee
I have been listening to this book during my devotional time, and I’ve learned a lot from it. It’s very eye opening, and I definitely recommend it. It has helped me to see my life from a totally new perspective.

Redeeming Love
By Francine Rivers
I absolutely LOVE this book! I think it is a must read for all women. The story is based on the book in the Bible called Hosea, but it is set in the mid 1800’s. The story itself is breath taking, but the insight you gain from reading it can change your life.

Mansfield Park
By Jane Austen
I love Jane Austen, and it is my goal to read every novel she has written. (There are 6 of them.) I am reading this one in Braille which is a bit challenging sometimes because of all the unfamiliar words. I just started it a few days ago, and I am really enjoying it so far.

The Kingdom Keepers
By Ridley Pearson
I chose to listen to this book because it’s a fictional story about kids that visit Walt Disney World when the park is closed at night. It’s meant for kids and teens, but I’m enjoying it. It’s total fantasy, but cute.

Tribulation Force
Left Behind series, book #2
By Tim LaHaye
I have read quite a few books from the Left Behind series in the past, but I’ve never read all 12 of them, so I decided to start over and try to make it all the way through this time! I really love this one. It’s got adventure, humor, romance, and some exciting plot twists!

Flat Cats and Fried Chicken
By Holly Chapa
We’re reading this book as a family and we have all been very touched by it. It is written by an acquaintance of ours who is a missionary in Australia. She writes about her husband’s death on the mission field, and how she and her 3 small children have gotten through the tough times. It’s a very inspirational story!

These are the books that I have been reading over the past few weeks. They have challenged me, entertained me, educated me and inspired me to become a better writer as well as a better version of myself. I’d love to know if you’ve discovered any good books lately, or who your favorite authors are.

Welcome to my book club!
